New Korean Drama Recommendation 'The Kidnapping Day', the Story of the Kidnapping of a Genius Child

There are many Korean dramas whose stories are adapted from novels. Some of them are even very successful. Well, the latest one is a title that also applies a similar concept, namely The Kidnapping Day. This black comedy thriller genre drama is adapted from a novel titled The Day or Yoogweui Nal written by Jung Hae-yeon and published by Sigongsa in July 2019.

The story is about the collaboration between the kind-hearted and careless kidnapper Kim Myung-joon (Yoon-kye-Sang) and a little girl he kidnapped named Choi Ro-Hee (Yoo-Na). Myung-joon's first kidnapping is to raise funds to treat his seriously ill daughter.

Meanwhile, Ro-Hee is an 11-year-old girl who is a genius, fearless, and cynical. And this drama has a total of 12 episodes and is directed by Park Yoo-young and co-written by screenwriter Kim Je-young. Check out the storyline of The Kidnapping Day below.

Kim Myung-joon is upset because his daughter's operation at the hospital requires a lot of money. In the midst of this difficulty, his former wife Seo Hye Eun orders Myung-joo to kidnap a rich person's child to get a ransom.

After receiving this advice, the kind-hearted Myung-joon reluctantly commits a crime he has never done before. The choice falls on Choi Ro-Hee, a rich person's child whom Myung-joon believes can be easily kidnapped.

On the way to kidnap Roh-Hee, he unexpectedly comes across an overturned and burning car. A little girl is injured, and Myung-joon helps her.Myung-joon doesn't realize that this girl is Ro-Hee, the intended victim he wants to kidnap.

Because Ro-Hee is injured, Myung-joon takes her to the hospital and claims to be her father. The little girl has lost her memory, so she doesn't deny that Myung-joon is her father and remains silent when she is taken back to that humble home. Every time Myung-joon calls Ro-Hee's home to demand ransom, no one answers.
