Park So Dam Reveals Gratitude to Choi Woo Shik for Helping Her Get a Role in 'Parasite'

Kapanlagi.com - In the latest episode of RADIO STAR, actress Park So Dam talked about her experience auditioning for the film PARASITE and going to school with SQUID GAME star, Anupam Tripathi.

She appeared as a guest on the November 24 broadcast of the MBC Variety Show. Park So Dam mentioned that PARASITE director Bong Joon Ho wanted to cast her and actor Choi Woo Shik as siblings because of their physical resemblance.

“The director (Bong Joon Ho) said he wanted to make us both siblings. For our first meeting there, he asked us to come without wearing any makeup at all. So we really showed up without washing our hair, and when he saw the two of us, the director was very happy,” said Park So Dam, as quoted from Soompi on Thursday (11/25/2021).

This girl born in 1991 previously did not know that she had a face similar to Choi Woo Shik. “I really didn't know that we looked alike, and I wondered, do I really look like him? But after seeing our photos together, I saw the resemblance,” added So Dam.

“I have to thank him (Choi Woo Shik) for the rest of my life, because he was cast first. I only got the role in the film because I looked like him. So, thanks to him, I got that role,” she continued.

Host Ahn Young Mi then asked if Park So Dam's real-life younger brother is similar to Choi Woo Shik and the actress confirmed it.

“Yes. He has a similar aura, everyone in our family has the same eyes," said Park So Dam.

Previously, the film PARASITE premiered in Korean theaters on May 30, 2019 and became popular worldwide. Not only that, the success of PARASITE also resulted in winning four awards at the 2020 Oscars.
