The drama KINGDOM is indeed filled with unexpected events that amaze the audience. At the end of the first season, viewers realize that the monsters in KINGDOM are not afraid of sunlight, but rather high temperatures. In the second season, it is revealed that this is due to the heat-hating, cold-loving plants that are the cause of this disease, as explained by Seo Bi (Bae Doona).

Raja Ahn Hyeon (Heo Joon Ho) gained recognition for successfully defeating over 30 thousand Japanese soldiers with only 500 troops during the war. It turns out, the reason behind his achievement is because they turned innocent commoners into monsters.

When Prince Chang (Joo Ji Hoon), Raja Ahn Hyeon, and other elite soldiers break through Mungyeong Saejae in the second episode, the king is killed by Cho Hak Ju's forces. The next day, Prince Chang asks Seo Bi to resurrect Raja Ahn Hyeon and turn him into a monster, just like what he did to the innocent commoners.

One of the most heartbreaking scenes in this drama is when Muyeong confesses that he is an informant for Cho Hak Ju (Ryu Seung Ryong). He is forced to do so because his pregnant wife's life is in danger. In the end, he dies in Prince Chang's arms with deep regret.

Seven years after a terrible ordeal, Prince Chang, Seo Bi, and other team members learn that there is someone teaching the general public how to grow resurrection plants and use them to bring the dead back to life.
