Play Detective Characters in the Latest Drama, Lee Je Hoon Worried About This

Kapanlagi.com - The latest drama by Lee Je Hoon, CHIEF DETECTIVE 1958 will soon air starting from Friday (19/4) on Disney+ Hotstar. Prior to its airing, director Kim Sung Hoon along with the new cast just held a Press Conference event.

In the press conference held today, Thursday (18/4), director Kim Sung Hoon along with four important cast members, starting from Lee Je Hoon, Lee Dong Hwi, Choi Woo Sung, to Yoon Hyun Soo answered various questions about the drama and their characters.

Lee Je Hoon, who plays the crime-fighting detective named Park Young Han, revealed how he immersed himself in his character. He admitted being carried away by emotions during the filming process.

1. Detective Park's Character

"After the script reading for the first 2 episodes was finished, Mr. Choi (Choi Bool Am) told me that Detective Park's character is a man full of anger. He wants to catch all the criminals and protect the weak. He talks about the humanity aspect that Detective Park possesses," said Lee Je Hoon.

He continued, "So instead of trying to look like Mr. Choi, which is actually difficult, I try to delve into the personality of the character and understand how he feels. That's the way I play the role of Detective Park."

2. Legendary Drama Prequel

CHIEF DETECTIVE 1958 itself is a prequel to the legendary drama titled CHIEF INSPECTOR which aired in 1971. Lee Je Hoon portrays the character of Detective Park, who is a younger version of senior actor Choi Bool Am.

"During filming, I felt a lot of anger within me because of the criminal cases. There are so many criminals and I just want to catch them. Mr. Choi Bool Am is a veteran with a lot of experience, and he is also a competent detective. But in my opinion, his character would be very different when he was young, because he has just started. So I want to show his development as a detective in this prequel," explained Lee Je Hoon.

"Young Park Young Han is a character who is always in a hurry, which can make you worried because of his attitude. But he has the passion and ambition to defeat all the criminals, and as you see him grow and develop, the audience will surely love his character," he added.

Furthermore, Lee Je Hoon also revealed that he was anxious because he was afraid he couldn't portray this legendary drama character well. But he tried to give a different touch and see it from the perspective of the audience in order to give the best portrayal of a young Park Young Han.
