Portrait of Zhang Linghe: Story of His Childhood Compared to the Neighbor's Child, Rebelling to Become an Actor

Zhang Linghe can currently be seen in the drama OUR GENERATION. Here he plays Jiang Qiaoxi, a genius who is constantly pressured by his parents.

Currently, Zhang Linghe is undergoing several promotions for this drama, including an interview with CHINA DAILY. One of the questions he was asked was about Zhang Linghe's opinion on the character Jiang Qiaoxi that he portrays!

Zhang Linghe is an alumnus of Nanjing Normal University majoring in electrical engineering. Besides being great at acting, he is also quite intelligent. So it's not surprising that indirectly Zhang Linghe compares himself to the character Jiang Qiaxi when asked about his opinion on that role.

Zhang Linghe admitted that when he first read the script, he felt that Jiang Qiaxi's childhood was almost similar to his own. Zhang Linghe confessed that he was also raised in the typical way of Chinese parents, although his parents were not as strict as Jiang Qiaxi's in the drama OUR GENERATION.

"My mom would say I did well on this exam, but I should have done better. Then she often asks me to look at the neighbor's kids and see what they do better than I do. My mom always raised me by comparing me to other kids," said Zhang Linghe.

When he was still a child, Zhang Linghe did not feel it all; only when he left home and started working did he realize that the way he was raised made him less confident about certain things.

"I didn't realize it back then. Only after I looked back and saw it from a third-person perspective did I realize that something was wrong and I needed freedom from anything that was holding me back," said the 27-year-old actor.

Regarding becoming an actor after studying engineering, it turns out one of the reasons is rebellion. Another reason is that he doesn't want to keep doing the same thing over and over. Zhang Linghe admits he likes to seek new experiences and cannot keep doing the same thing from 9 AM to 5 PM.

"As an actor, you can spend three months on one script, but every day during filming there will definitely be something new. Whether it's a new scene, new chemistry, a new director, or a new co-star who can inspire you. That new experience is the reason why I continue to work in this industry," he concluded. What do you think, KLovers?
