Practice Before Shooting 'KINGDOM: ASHIN OF THE NORTH', Jun Ji Hyun Happy to be Called Cool When Archery

Jun Ji Hyun herself has conducted a press conference for ASHIN on Wednesday (21/7/2021). On this occasion, the mother of two briefly talked about her experience during filming and portraying the character Ashin. To get into the character, Jun Ji Hyun was willing to learn many things.

"Because the character Ashin is skilled in archery, I learned a lot about archery. Archery here is not something modern but has existed since ancient times. I was so amazed when I could become a character who uses arrows as a weapon used in the past," she said.

1. Feeling Able to Portray Ashin

In order to convincingly portray Ashin, Jun Ji Hyun was willing to undergo several training sessions. Luckily, she is a woman who has always enjoyed sports, so she did not have any difficulties in playing the role of Ashin.

"Since I like fitness, I was quite capable of taking on this role, so it was helpful for me. I am very prepared for the action scenes in ASHIN. What is most important to me is archery," she said.

2. Maintaining Physical Condition

As mentioned before, Jun Ji Hyun focused on archery training before filming. However, it was not only about honing her archery skills, she also had to maintain her physical condition.

"Archery is the most important aspect of ASHIN OF THE NORTH. I practiced with a bow and arrow, but Ashin doesn't actually have many action scenes. She eliminates zombies with just one arrow. It was enough for me to always keep my body fit for the scenes. But for me, learning archery was not too difficult," she said.

3. Agree to Look Cool While Archery

Jun Ji Hyun has long been known as one of the coolest Korean actresses. Praise was given to her again when she portrayed Ashin. She was said to look very cool while archery in ASHIN OF THE NORTH.

"I agree that I am so cool with a bow and a character who has a weapon in her hand. The weapon also plays an important role for my character, making me look like a female warrior," she said.
