According to Nielsen Korea data, the 8th episode of the drama starring Ji Chang Wook and Kim Yoo Jung recorded an average national rating of 5.5 percent for the first part and 8.7 percent for the second part.
BACKSTREET ROOKIE itself is a romantic comedy drama. This drama tells the unpredictable love story between a clumsy convenience store owner (played by Ji Chang Wook) and an employee who predicts everything (Kim Yoo Jung).

Before skyrocketing in episode 8, the rating of BACKSTREET ROOKIE experienced a slight decrease in the previous episode. In the airing of episode 6, this drama successfully achieved an average national rating of 4.9 percent for the first part and 7.9 percent for the second part.
These numbers slightly dropped on Friday (10/7/2020), where the average ratings obtained were 4.8 and 6.6 percent for the respective parts. However, these rating achievements are quite far from the lowest achievement of BACKSTREET ROOKIE in episode 2, which only reached 3.7 and 6.8 percent.
Meanwhile, another Saturday night program achieved a fairly competitive rating. The first episode of TRAIN aired on OCN recorded an average national audience rating of 1.4 percent. The new mystery drama on JTBC, GRACEFUL FRIENDS, experienced a decrease in its second episode, recording an average national rating of 2.7 percent.
On the other hand, IT'S OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY aired on TVN remained relatively stable with an average national rating of 5.6 percent and a peak of 5.8 percent for that night. KING MAKER: THE CHANGE OF DESTINY on TV Chosun also recorded an average national rating of 5.6 percent for its latest episode.
On the national TV channel KBS 2TV, ONCE AGAIN remained the most-watched drama on Sunday night with an average national rating of 24.6 percent and 29.6 percent for the respective parts.
