[REVIEW] 'DOONA!', A Love Story of a Former K-Pop Idol and an Ordinary Student That Warms the Heart

Kapanlagi.com - Finally, the long-awaited moment has arrived. DOONA!, a webtoon adaptation drama starring Suzy and Yang Se Jong is now available to watch on Netflix starting Friday (20/10/2023).

DOONA! tells the story of Lee Doona (Suzy), a former member of the popular K-Pop girl group, Sweet Dream, who is also the breadwinner of her family. She decides to retire at the peak of her popularity and hides in a boarding house near the campus. There, Doona meets Lee Wonjun.

Wonjun is an ordinary student who only thinks about his family. He decides to stay in the boarding house to reduce travel time to campus. When he meets Doona, who is smoking in front of their boarding house, Wonjun asks if they have met before.

Doona, who does not plan to have friends, finds herself smiling since getting to know Wonjun. Meanwhile, at first, Wonjun is reluctant when Doona keeps inviting him to eat together. He doesn't expect that what Doona does makes his heart flutter.

In terms of story, DOONA! can be described as light and sweet. Yes, even though there are still relationship problems between two people and other life issues, to make the story more exciting.

The way the scenes are shot is beautiful, making our eyes feel comfortable staring at the screen for hours. Especially with the addition of the visuals of the cast.

The chemistry between Suzy and Yang Se Jong certainly makes us feel charmed watching their interactions. The friendship between Doona and her other roommates is also enjoyable, as if we are witnessing our own friendship with friends. The acting of the supporting characters as Wonjun and Doona's friends also makes all the characters likable.

2. Other Plus Points

Another plus point of this drama is that all the soundtracks are great. In addition, the lyrics also fit the story. The melodies of these accompanying songs seem to match the cinematography.

The relatively few episodes can be hit and miss. For those who like dramas without unnecessary length, DOONA! will feel perfect with nine episodes. But there will definitely be some who feel that the story could have been made longer.
