[Review] 'THE MANIPULATED', Ji Chang Wook's Struggle for Justice

Kapanlagi.com - Finally, one of the most anticipated dramas, THE MANIPULATED, has premiered starting November 5, 2025, on Disney+ Hotstar. The first four episodes of this drama starring Ji Chang Wook, Doh Kyung Soo, Kim Jong Soo, Jo Yoon Soo, and Lee Kwang Soo can be enjoyed on the first day of airing.

THE MANIPULATED tells the story of Park Taejoong (Ji Chang Wook), a hardworking, kind-hearted man who loves to help others and has many dreams, whose life suddenly changes into that of a convict after being manipulated into being a perpetrator of a brutal murder. Initially feeling defeated, Ji Chang Wook eventually realizes that his life has been slandered and intends to find the mastermind behind all the tragic events that have befallen him.

1. Ji Chang Wook's Acting Makes It Emotional

In the first episode, we are introduced to Park Taejoong, a character who is very easy to love but then suddenly meets a tragic fate. Ji Chang Wook's acting as this lovable character who then becomes a prisoner will also make us feel the heartbreak of Taejoong, who suddenly faces cruel accusations without knowing anything.

Here we can also feel how Ji Chang Wook is able to portray Taejoong as a dream-filled person and a brother who cares deeply for his sister.

2. A Unique Pace

The premiere episode can be said to be unique. On one hand, we can feel the rapid transition in Park Taejoong's life, from his normal life to the harshness of prison for several years.

On the other hand, since these first four episodes focus solely on Park Taejoong's story, it might make the audience curious and eager to see how he interacts with other main characters in THE MANIPULATED. However, focusing on just one character might make some viewers feel bored.

3. Cool Action Scene

Ji Chang Wook seems to be well-known as a master of action scenes. And in THE MANIPULATED, he proves his action skills again when performing a fight scene with fellow inmates.

We are also kept on the edge of our seats with the plans made by Park Taejoong in prison because this character is not only smart but also quick in executing his actions.

4. Fans of Doh Kyung Soo and Lee Kwang Soo Be Patient

As previously explained, these first four episodes focus on Park Tae Joong and his life in prison. An Yohan, the character played by Doh Kyung Soo, doesn't appear much here. But trust me, when he does appear, the audience will be thrilled by his laughter and his psychopathic ideas that are beyond reason.

Meanwhile, the character Lee Kwang Soo, Baek Do Kyung, may only appear in upcoming episodes.

5. Every Episode Ending Leaves You Curious

At the end of each episode, viewers will be left curious about what action will happen next because it can't be predicted. What will Park Taejoong do to prove he has been framed, or what is An Yohan's plan that can be considered really crazy?
