Before officially becoming a K-Pop idol, someone has to undergo training in their agency. These training participants are called trainees. Each agency has its own training policy.
Now, some of these trainees, although they haven't officially debuted, are already well-known by the public. Most of them are known for participating in survival programs or appearing in other musicians' music videos.
Han Chowon became known through the survival program Produce 48. She participated in the program representing Cube Entertainment. Chowon is famous as the Reversal Queen because of her performance. Many participants in the program mistakenly thought she was a rapper, but she is actually a vocalist with an amazing voice.
This SM Entertainment trainee was first introduced by the agency as a member of SM Rookies in 2015. Ko Eunji appeared in the MV for Yesung Super Junior's solo song Paper Umbrella along with Jungwoo NCT.
Kim Taedong first appeared in the competition Boys24. Unfortunately, he did not succeed in becoming a debut member. He then competed in Produce 101 Season 2. He was actually chosen to debut with a fan-formed boy group named JBJ. However, due to conflicts with the agency at that time, he was unable to join.
This is the younger brother of Moonbin ASTRO and was a former trainee at YG Entertainment. He participated in Unpretty Rapstar 2 and appeared in the MV for G-Dragon and T.O.P's song Knock Out.
One more member of SM Rookies who managed to steal netizens' attention. Lami was first known as a child actress when she was 8 years old. She was introduced to the public as SM Rookies in 2013. She has participated in several dramas. She has been a trainee at SM Entertainment for 9 years.
Heo Yunji is a trainee from PLEDIS Entertainment. She first appeared on television in the show Produce 48 along with After School member, Lee Kaeun. She is known for her tall stature despite being quite young.
Lee Soomin has appeared in several talent search and survival programs. She was a contestant on the first season of Produce 101. She also participated in the survival show MIXNINE organized by YG Entertainment and JTBC.
