Unveiled 8 Portraits of Banjiha Slum Houses 'PARASITE' in South Korea, Very Sad!

PARASITE is one of the world-renowned South Korean films and is admired by many people. This film tells the social gap between poor families and rich families. It's so amazing that recently, PARASITE won 4 OSCAR awards. One of them is the Best Picture award, which showcases visually stunning and highly descriptive storytelling.

As you may know, the film starring Choi Woo Shik is a fictional story. But you should know that the slum house inhabited by the Kim Gi Taek family (Song Kang Ho) is a real house. Yup, this house really exists in South Korea. For those who are curious, here are a series of portraits of the PARASITE slum house.

This Banjiha belongs to Oh Kee Cheol. According to BBC Korea, this house is very dimly lit. Even plants find it difficult to survive.

This portrait is a bathroom. Sometimes, when entering, people have to bend or squat to fit.

In the past, North Korea and South Korea were involved in a dispute. Therefore, this Banjiha was built as a bunker to protect oneself from attacks by the North Korean military.

Although it is considered illegal, it is now open to the public due to the lack of housing land. Like a transformation, Banjiha can now become a livable place.

The windows of this house are not real. These windows are drainage pipes where water and vehicle exhaust can enter at any time.

Getting a phone signal is very difficult to find. Even this house is often flooded up to 4 meters deep.

Nevertheless, there are many people who choose to live here. This is because the place is relatively cheap, so they can prioritize other expenses such as education and other needs.

Banjiha is synonymous with poverty in Seoul. So it's no wonder that this location is very suitable for depicting the Kim Gi Taek family, who are portrayed as poor. Sad!
