Woohyun INFINITE Reveals Being Affected by Rare Cancer and Undergoing Surgery

Kapanlagi.com - The vocalist of the group INFINITE, Nam Woohyun shared a story about himself who has been suffering from cancer. He shared this condition before the release of his first solo album.

Woohyun revealed that he has been diagnosed with GIST cancer, also known as gastrointestinal stromal tumor. This rare cancer can occur in any muscle of the digestive tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and rectum.

According to Naver news site, Woohyun has been feeling unwell since the beginning of 2023. After being diagnosed with cancer, he underwent surgery for his illness in April 2023, with a 15-centimeter incision on his stomach.

Even before fully recovering, Woohyun continued his activities as an idol with INFINITE by releasing the album BEGIN on July 31, 2023. He admitted that he couldn't postpone it any longer because he wanted to meet his fans as soon as possible.

"I experienced difficulties because I thought I wouldn't be able to be active. This year has been the hardest time in my life," said Woohyun.

"I almost postponed INFINITE's activities because of me, but I quickly recovered," added Woohyun.

The main vocalist of INFINITE also emphasized that his condition is now much better and he is still undergoing further tests after the surgery.

Woohyun INFINITE has released his first solo album WHITREE on November 28, 2023. This album is his first solo album after 7 years since his debut as a solo singer. WHITREE contains 11 songs, with 5 songs written by Woohyun himself.
