Yoon Kye Sang's Struggle to Get into His Character in 'THE KIDNAPPING DAY', Remembering an Emotional Scene

Some time ago, KapanLagi Korea asked a few questions to Yoon Kye Sang. Here are the results of the short interview with this 44-year-old actor.

1. More Difficult Comedy Scenes

THE KIDNAPPING DAY is a combination of crime and comedy genres. Surely this is a challenge for Yoon Kye Sang who must be able to focus on showing various emotions ranging from serious scenes to comedy. When asked which is more difficult, comedy or performing seriously, this is the answer.

"Definitely comedy. I think about points that can make people feel funny and have to act at the right time. So I think a lot and rehearse it because it won't be funny if something is missed and it can ruin the atmosphere. I specifically focus on how parents feel when they have a sick child. I focus a lot on this scene."

2. Struggle to Get into Character

Yoon Kye Sang has often played cool and charismatic characters. But in THE KIDNAPPING DAY, he becomes an awkward person and a robber and father. Yoon Kye Sang then explains how he gets into this character.

"I try to naturally portray the unique figure of Myeong Jun, who is physically strong, lacks 2 percent of knowledge, has long hair, his way of speaking, and so on. Rather than focusing on just one aspect, I hope to naturally balance all of them."

3. Emotional Scenes

In this drama, there are many scenes between Yoon Kye Sang and Yu Na, a 12-year-old actress who plays the character Choi Ro Hee, a child who should have been kidnapped but ends up being taken care of by Myeong Jun. There is one memorable moment with Yu Na for Yoon Kye Sang.

"There is an emotional scene with Yu Na in the second half of the drama and I can't wait for the audience to see it. I was very shocked and inspired," he concluded.
