Kapanlagi.com - Sad news has come from the world of Japanese entertainment. The voice actor or voice actress of Nobita Nobi in the anime series DORAEMON, Yoshiko Ohta, has passed away. This news was announced directly by Yoshiko's agency, Theater Echo Group.
Theater Echo Group released an obituary about Yoshiko last Monday (8/11). In the obituary, it was stated that Yoshiko passed away at the age of 89 due to heart failure.
Quoting from crunchyroll, Yoshiko passed away at a hospital in Kanagawa Prefecture, Tokyo on October 29, 2021. Yoshiko Ohta's funeral was held privately and attended only by family members.
Yoshiko Ohta was born in Hyogo Prefecture on April 25, 1983, and spent her childhood there. In 1947, she joined Takarazuka Revue, a theatrical music group that was popular in Hyogo until 1952.
In the same year, Yoshiko met her future husband, who was also a voice actor, Osamu Saka. After getting married, in 1964 they moved to Tokyo and joined Theater Echo Group.
During her time at Theater Echo, Yoshiko has voiced many anime characters. Some famous characters she played include Leo in JUNGLE EMPEROR LEO in 1966, Atsuko Kagami in HIMITSU NO AKKO-CHAN in 1969, and Baby Panda in the anime PANDA!GO, PANDA!.
In 1973, she voiced Nobita Nobi or Da Xiong in the first anime adaptation of DORAEMON which aired on Japanese TV.
During her voice acting career, Yoshiko Ohta received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival in 2016 for her contributions to the world of Japanese animation.
