Afgan Performs at Java Jazz Festival, Vanesha Prescilla Gives Birthday Wishes

Kapanlagi.com - Solo singer Afgan Syahreza was one of the most anticipated performers on the second day of Java Jazz Festival 2022, Saturday (28/5/2022). Performing on the BNI Hall stage, Afgan entertained the audience with a number of hit songs he sang on stage.

Afgan's appearance on stage was greeted with cheers and applause from the audience. Not wanting to waste time, the 33-year-old singer immediately opened his stage act with the song Say I'm Sorry. Then followed by the song Knock Me Out.

Then, the song titled So Wrong But So Right was sung by Afgan on stage. This song felt special because So Wrong But So Right was released by Afgan on his birthday which fell on May 27, 2022. One day before Afgan performed at Java Jazz 2022.

"Yesterday I released a new song on my birthday. This is the first time in my career that I recorded a song only in the living room. This is very different," said Afgan on stage.

1. The Appearance of Vanesha Prescilla

What's interesting when Afgan performed, while singing the song So Wrong but So Right, the audience suddenly screamed because of the appearance of Vanesha Prescilla who immediately went up on stage. Vanesha brought cupcakes which were then given to Afgan.

Then, Vanesha immediately gave a birthday greeting to the singer of the song Sadis. Shortly after, she left the stage while waving to the audience.

2. Collaboration Project

It should be known that Vanesha Prescilla is the model for the music video of the song So Wrong but So Right. That's why the actress who played Milea in the movie Dilan 1990 appeared on Afgan's stage.

"Applause for Vanesha, she said happy birthday," said Afgan.

3. There's an R&B Album

In his performance, Afgan also talked a lot about his life and music. The Jakarta-born singer briefly talked from the stage if he had made his first R&B album.

"So in 2021, in the midst of a pandemic, I released an album. During the pandemic, I didn't want to be stuck, I wanted to create works," said Afgan.

4. Worried at First

Initially, Afgan was hesitant about the unusual music genre. He was worried that the results would not be liked by many people, especially his fans. However, Afgan didn't care about what people would say. He felt that he would continue with the music he liked.

"For the first time in my career, I released an album with all R&B songs and all in English," said Afgan.

"I'm at the point where I don't care if people don't like it, as long as I like it. But it turns out that people like it," added Afgan. 

5. Collaboration with Jackson Wang

Interestingly, Afgan also talked about one of the songs that he is most proud of. The song is the result of his collaboration with Jackson Wang. Afgan explained that his collaboration with Jackson Wang was the moment he liked the most throughout his music career.

"There's one song on the album that I'm really proud of, which is my collaboration with one of the Kpop musicians," said Afgan.

"We accidentally met backstage, we talked and became friends. Finally, this collaboration happened, he is Jackson Wang. This song is one of my favorite collaborations," Afgan concluded.
