Bayou Band Returns After 23 Years of Hiatus, Holds Concert '30 Years of Legacy'

Kapanlagi.com - The long wait for Bayou Band fans has finally paid off. After a 23-year hiatus from releasing new work, this band, popular in the 90s, officially returns to the Indonesian music scene with an intimate concert titled Bayou Reborn 30 Years of Legacy.

This concert was held at Odin, Sampoerna Strategic, Sudirman, Central Jakarta, on Friday (10/3/2025) evening. This moment marks the pinnacle of their 30-year career celebration since they first released an album in 1995.

1. A Blessing

For the personnel, Binsar (vocals), Andi (keyboard), Yoyo (bass), and Opick (guitar), being able to gather again and hold a concert at the band's 30th anniversary is a blessing that should be appreciated.

"Bayou at 30 years can gather like this for a concert, so it's a blessing," said Andi the keyboardist when met in the Sudirman area, South Jakarta, on Friday (03/10/2025).

The idea to reunite, according to Binsar, started from a casual conversation that sparked their enthusiasm to celebrate three decades of Bayou's existence in the Indonesian music scene.

2. Release of New Single

"Andi and I met in Serpong, creating stories or podcasts. We talked about how in 2025 it will be 30 years of Bayou, and there's nothing wrong with having a concert or celebrating 30 years of creativity as a way to show that we are still active," said Binsar.

This concert also serves as the launch event for their latest single titled Tak Ingin Yang Lain Part 2. This song marks Bayou's return to the recording studio after last releasing an album in 2000.

"The last time we released a new song was in 2000. After 23 years, Bayou is back at it and releasing a new single," explained Andi.

3. Most Missed

Emotions of nostalgia and happiness were also felt by Opick, the guitarist. For him, the moment of being able to joke and laugh again in the recording studio is what he has missed the most during the hiatus.

"I am very happy to be able to perform and make an album again, going back to recording is really fun. We haven't felt this atmosphere for a long time, the joking around is what I've missed," said Opick.
