Kapanlagi.com - Christian Bautista returns with a new work, this time through a collaboration with Raisa. The classic song Rainbow by South Border was chosen as a special project that unites two different voices from two countries. Their meeting during a tour in Japan marked the beginning of this cross-border collaboration.
This collaboration presents an interesting story behind the recording process and the personal meaning contained in the song. From the experience of balancing a busy schedule to the hopeful message they want to convey, everything is revealed in the journey of creating the new version of Rainbow.

The collaboration between Christian Bautista and Raisa began during a joint tour in Japan in 2024. At that time, Christian learned that Rainbow was also Raisa's favorite song, just like his. "Rainbow has always been my favorite song. And I know from last year's tour with Raisa in Japan that it was also one of her favorite songs," said Christian Bautista.
After deciding to collaborate, both faced significant challenges due to their busy schedules. Christian recorded his vocals in Manila, while Raisa did her recording in Jakarta. "We just looked at the calendar and found free time for recording and did Zoom calls. I could record in Manila and Raisa could record in Jakarta," he explained when met at the Sony Music Building, South Jakarta, on Monday (22/9/2025).
The recording process eventually brought them back together in the Philippines when Raisa came for an album photoshoot. That moment was utilized to complete the recording of Rainbow. "She came to the Philippines for our album photoshoot, and then we re-recorded the song Rainbow there. So there were a lot of recording processes that ultimately resulted in a beautiful song," said Christian.

Christian Bautista admits to having a special bond with Rainbow, which always serves as a reminder during difficult times. "I have gone through many challenges over the decades, and this song reminds me that every problem has a solution. There will always be a better day," Christian said during an interview.
For Raisa, Rainbow is not just a love song, but also a reflection on life’s journey. She grew up with this song, unconsciously keeping it as a reminder that there is always a rainbow after the rain.
This duet version also adds a meaning of friendship for both of them. Christian mentioned that he learned that hope can be found anywhere, even from new friendships. "Anything is possible. You can really find friends anywhere, and you can find hope anywhere especially during a hard season," he stated.

One of the most memorable moments for Christian was when he finally got to sing live with Raisa after months of only recording separately. "That was the first time we were in the same room and sang it live. So it was very memorable for us," he reminisced.
In addition, Christian sees Rainbow as a bridge to introduce classical music to a new generation. He likens himself to an older brother who introduces songs full of beautiful messages to his younger siblings. He hopes this latest version can keep the message of optimism alive across generations.
He also conveyed a warm message to fans in Southeast Asia who have patiently awaited this collaboration. "I want to thank them for their patience, love, and support and remind everyone to always be kind to one another," he said. This simple message he entrusted as a reminder that the spirit of goodness and brotherhood can continue to grow through music.
