DIRA Brings Back Candra Darusman's Legendary Song 'Satu Cinta' with a More Modern Version

Kapanlagi.com - For music lovers, especially old-school songs, the title Satu Cinta must be familiar. The song, created by legendary musician Candra Darusman, was previously popularized by Ruth Sahanaya, precisely in 1992 and was booming in its era.

Now, the legendary single is being repackaged in a more modern version by talented and beautiful singer, Dira, under the umbrella of Signature Music Indonesia in collaboration with Demajors. What's special is that this new version of Satu Cinta was released at the end of March, coinciding with Indonesian Music Day.

This new version of Satu Cinta was reproduced with arrangements and orchestrations written by Ricky Lionardi. The original songwriter was also impressed after hearing his work remade by talented people.

"With high-tech techniques, DIRA used her vocals according to the needs of the song and the demands of Ricky's orchestration. Their collaboration resulted in a 5-star rating on a scale of 1-5," praised Candra Darusman.

Candra was so pleased with the recording results of the remake version of the song Satu Cinta. He then had a little flashback about the recording he did in the early 1990s with James F. Sundah.

"The melody was the first thing. At that time, I had long wanted to collaborate with James F. Sundah on a song. A long-standing desire since James wrote Lilin Lilin Kecil and the time when I made the song Pemuda. Until finally, we successfully collaborated on this song with Ruth Sahanaya on vocals. Now, Panji Prasetyo from Signature Music Indonesia proposed to collaborate with Ricky Lionardi, whom I have long admired for his good works in arrangement and orchestration. Ricky successfully recorded his orchestration with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra. The result is above expectations!" said Candra.

2. Conveying a Beautiful Message to the Universe

DIRA herself is known as a big fan of Candra Darusman. Therefore, when offered to re-record the song Satu Cinta, she immediately agreed. In fact, so much so that DIRA even shed tears during the recording process.

"Mas Candra's works are very honest and pure, the chords and melodies are pleasant to listen to, the lyrics are very strong, and do not fade with time. When I did the vocal take in the studio, I felt a very strong energy shaking my heart. It was as if I became an instrument to convey a beautiful message to the universe. My chest felt tight several times and tears flowed," said DIRA.

When asked to collaborate on arranging Satu Cinta, Ricky Lionardi wanted to bring this song back with a different arrangement. The basic composition of the song that is already so neat makes it so easy to explore into various different genres.

"More precisely with a feel / mood that is totally different, leading to modern jazz that is suitable for the concept of this album. Its strong melody will be very easy to develop and explore in any direction. Whether it's made into jazz, swing, or any genre, it can still be enjoyed and appreciated," said Ricky, also appreciating the strength of Candra Darusman's melodies.

4. DETIK WAKTU #2 Album

Satu Cinta is the fourth single from the album DETIK WAKTU #2 - Perjalanan Karya Cipta Candra Darusman, which is an album containing songs composed by Candra Darusman. This is a 'sequel' album from the previous release in 2018, namely DETIK WAKTU which won 2 AMI Awards, the highest award in the Indonesian music world in 2018 as 'Best Album' and 'Best Pop Album'.

The album Detik Waktu #2 - Perjalanan Karya Cipta Candra Darusman will feature several songs composed by Candra Darusman that will be recorded by several Indonesian singers and musicians and is planned to be released by Signature Music Indonesia and distributed by Demajors in May 2022.
