Ed Sheeran Concert Stage in Jakarta Officially Relocated from GBK Main Stadium to JIS

Famous British singer, Ed Sheeran, will hold a concert in Jakarta on March 2, 2024. Previously, the concert titled + - = ÷ x (Mathematics) Tour was scheduled to be held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK). However, on February 16, 2024, the promoters announced that the concert venue has been moved to Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).

This was directly conveyed by AEG Presents Asia, PK Entertainment, and Sound Rhythm after thorough discussions and considerations from all parties involved. The main reason for the change in concert location is the football match between the Indonesian National Team and the Vietnamese National Team for the qualification of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The match will be held at GBK Stadium on March 21, 2024.

"We are aware of the importance of the Indonesian National Team's football match, especially when Indonesia is the host. Our support aligns with the government's goal to advance national sports," said Harry Sudarma, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of PK Entertainment.

1. Confirmation from GBK and JIS

As the CEO of GBK, Rakhmadi A. Kusumo stated that they have been in intensive communication with the concert promoter regarding the agenda of the activities that will be held at the Main Stadium of GBK. Following the selection of the stadium as the venue for the Indonesia National Team's match against the Vietnam National Team, Rakhmadi also explained that maintaining the stadium's condition is a top priority.

Furthermore, he revealed, "We need to make special preparations to ensure that the venue remains in prime condition. Therefore, we inform you that the international music concert 'Ed Sheeran Tour 2024' by PK Entertainment at GBK cannot be held at the scheduled time."

As a Public Service Agency (BLU), Rakhmadi emphasized their commitment to supporting national sports achievements, especially football. He also expressed gratitude for the understanding and support from PK Entertainment and other relevant parties.

Meanwhile, JIS management welcomes the relocation of the Ed Sheeran concert. Adi Adnyana, as the Director of Business & Ops Jakpro, stated that the Mathematics Tour will not disrupt the ongoing activities to improve the stadium's turf performance. He also continues to coordinate with relevant parties to contribute positively to the smooth running of the event at JIS.

2. Best Concert Experience

Although moving locations for the Indonesia National Team versus Vietnam National Team match, PK Entertainment ensures that they will still provide the best concert experience. Harry revealed, "We are also confident that JIS, as the largest international football stadium in Indonesia, can provide an unforgettable experience for Ed Sheeran fans. Our team is currently working closely with JIS to ensure a smooth and enjoyable concert experience for all fans in Jakarta."

Currently, the concert organizer is still in the process of seat allocation. This process is scheduled to be completed no later than February 25, 2024. The promoter also ensures that tickets purchased for the concert at GBK will still be valid for the concert at JIS. Ticket holders will receive an email containing information on how to access the updated e-ticket with seat numbers.

For the smooth running of the concert and the comfort of the fans, the promoter is also coordinating with JIS and other involved partners. The concert organizer will provide additional parking spaces, shuttle buses at several pick-up and drop-off points, as well as ojek/ride-hailing services. Committed to providing the best concert experience for fans, the concert organizers have prepared a 360-degree stage concept. This unique stage concept sets apart this year's Ed Sheeran concert from the 2019 concert.

The 360-degree stage concept places the stage in the middle of the venue. This allows fans from all seating categories to witness and enjoy the concert with the best view.

In addition, giant LED screens will complement the venue. The giant LED screens will display rotating visuals of Ed Sheeran. Furthermore, the venue will also be equipped with six small stages and guitar-shaped screens. These elements will enhance the visual experience.

Ed Sheeran's concert in Jakarta this year is part of a series of Asian tours and his second concert in Indonesia since 2019. In addition, his performances in Europe are a continuation of his tour on the continent that started last year.

+ - = ÷ x (Mathematics) Tour will last approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. The setlist for the + - = ÷ x (Mathematics) Tour includes songs from his album with a mathematical symbol cover.
