Formerly Visited by Katy Perry, Here's the Condition of Vinyl Store on Surabaya Street Menteng which is Now Lifeless

The once popular Vinyl Store in Menteng area is now lifeless.

The prolonged covid-19 pandemic is one of the causes why antique stores in Menteng area are so deserted by visitors.

In this place, the name Lian Nasution was born, a physical music release trader whose fame is known worldwide as a music collector. Many international musicians even visited his kiosk, such as Katy Perry and The Cardigans.

Now, Bang Lian's kiosk has changed hands to Bang Ivan. And as the successor of Bang Lian's kiosk, Ivan still sells local and international vinyl and cassettes.

Bang Ivan himself now sells more online because the offline store is not as crowded as before. One of the factors is because the road is no longer passed by public transportation.

It's a different story for Riva'i, a young man who has a physical release kiosk on Jalan Surabaya in the middle block. As the successor of his grandfather, Riva'i said that sales are still decent although not like before.

Then there is also a story from Irjul, a music release trader in a different block. Just like Riva'i, Irjul's business was also hit hard by the pandemic. Previously, vinyl sales were quite good and his store was often visited by buyers from Japan to Singapore.

Interestingly, Irjul also sold Adi Bing Slamet's vinyl, of which the singer himself did not know that his work was in the form of vinyl.

A series of musicians also often come to Irjul's vinyl store, such as Rian from d Masiv and Vincent.
