Giring Banned from Performing at D'MASIV 20AD TO THE WORLD Concert in Malaysia, Disappointing Fans

Kapanlagi.com - Former Nidji vocalist, Giring Ganesha, was banned from appearing at the D'MASIV 20AD TO THE WORLD solo concert on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Initially, Giring was invited as a special appearance to duet with Rian Ekky Pradipta, D'MASIV's vocalist, at Zepp Kuala Lumpur.

The cancellation of Giring's appearance at the grand concert certainly shocked and disappointed both D'MASIV personnel and the audience who were present. This is because the performance of the two idols had been eagerly awaited by their fans in Malaysia.

Giring and his wife, Cynthia Ganesha, had actually arrived in Kuala Lumpur since June 1 and were ready to entertain the audience. However, in the moments leading up to the concert, he and his team received news that he was not allowed to perform on stage with D'MASIV.

"But we can still stay here, because we have come a long way, met our friends in Malaysia, are happy, and our main goal is to support D'MASIV," said Giring.

1. Hindered by Licensing Issues?

Syai Nick, founder of Nusantaiment as the concert organizer explained that the reason for Giring's failure to perform at the 20AD TO THE WORLD concert was due to the “PUSPAL” permit from the Malaysian government.

“Regarding this matter, we have complied with the regulations and followed the procedures accordingly. However, it may not have been our fortune to entertain the audience with Giring's presence,” said Syai in an official statement on Sunday (5/6/2023).

Meanwhile, at the concert, Rian greeted Giring and conveyed his sadness, which made the audience emotional. He also read a letter containing a message from the Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

“The message from Mas Giring is specifically for D'MASIV today, the best for Giring and Nidji fans, Mas Giring allows D'MASIV to perform Nidji's songs,” said Rian.

2. Joining the Audience

Although the audience was disappointed, Giring still appeared and sang along with thousands of fans. This action made the concert atmosphere even more lively.

Jehan Albert Fauzie, Business Director of Nusantaiment, also expressed his appreciation for Giring's attitude at the D'MASIV 20AD TO THE WORLD concert in Malaysia, which was so open-minded and entertaining.

“Giring is very supportive, I appreciate him because he is extraordinary. Sad and disappointed, of course, because he was very excited to entertain his fans in Malaysia. But Mas Giring still wanted to support D'MASIV from the audience seats,” said Jehan.

Jehan recounted that the concert atmosphere, which was attended by around five thousand spectators, was very lively and emotional. When Giring was not allowed to perform on stage, he spontaneously jumped into the audience seats and showed his signature moves when Rian sang the song ‘Hapus Aku’.

“It was a magical moment where all the audience screamed, shouted and jumped together. Even all the spectators, including the backstage team, said ‘the energy was extraordinary, even without singing, it was already lively’,” he added.

3. 20-Year Celebration Concert of D'Masiv's Journey

As known, D'MASIV 20AD TO THE WORLD is a concert celebrating the 20-year journey of the band consisting of Rian Ekky Pradipta (vocalist), Dwiki Aditya Marsall (guitar), Nurul Damar Ramadan (guitar), Rayyi Kurniawan Iskandar Dinata (bass), and Wahyu Piadji (drums).

The two-day solo concert, held at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on June 2 & 3, 2023, successfully attracted more than 5000 spectators from various cities and countries such as Penang, Johor Baru, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam.

"D'MASIV is a friend and also one of the big motivators for Nusantaiment to penetrate the international market by bringing Indonesian music to shine and wave in the world music scene," Jehan concluded.

In their first solo concert, D'MASIV collaborated with the Nusantaiment event platform and also partnered with Malaysian promoter, Neptunes Present.
