Her New Album Criticized, Taylor Swift: I Know What I'm Doing

Taylor Swift officially released her 12th studio album titled "The Life Of A Showgirl" on Friday (3/10). This album is a continuation of "The Tortured Poets Department," but this time Taylor Swift presents a lighter, more colorful, and seductive style.

Since its release, the album has sparked debate among fans, with some praising it as "the best pop she has ever made," while others deem it "too flat and boring."

In an interview with Zane Lowe from Apple Music, Taylor Swift responded to criticism casually. "I welcome this chaos," she said. "The rules of the entertainment world are simple: if in the first week of your album's release people are still mentioning your name, then you’ve won."

She emphasized that differing opinions are a healthy thing. "I'm not the art police. Everyone is entitled to feel whatever they want. We, as artists, are just trying to be a mirror for our listeners."

Taylor Swift also highlighted how her music often grows alongside her fans. "I love when people say, 'I didn't like Reputation at first, but now it's my favorite.' That shows that music can change its meaning over time," she said. "I know what I create, and I know I love it."

Unlike the introspective vibe of "The Tortured Poets Department", this new album showcases a more cheerful and humorous side of Taylor Swift. "If the previous album was more serious and sensitive, 'Showgirl' is actually full of mischief," she explained.

"Showgirl is naughty, funny, flirtatious, and a bit scandalous." She also expressed great pride in the creative process behind this album—from the catchy melodies to the lighter yet sharp stories.

Taylor Swift describes this project as a form of artistic freedom she has long dreamed of. "I've wanted to make an album that's just about having fun for a long time," she revealed. "I want to showcase the side of me that loves to joke around, be cheeky, and spontaneous. That's a big part of my personality that hasn't come out much until now."

The issue of her personal life has also been quite a topic, especially regarding her engagement to Travis Kelce. Taylor Swift denied rumors that she would stop making music after getting married. "That sounds very insulting," she told Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2. "Right now I just want to enjoy the idea that I will marry the person I love. After that, I'll think about other things."
