Iwan Fals Admits Singing Songs About Love is More Difficult

"The song was created by Enda Ungu, he was moved to make a song for me. Finally, the song happened," said Iwan Fals in a recent virtual interview.

Iwan Fals admitted that singing songs about love is more difficult because it requires deep understanding and honesty. Although songs with different themes also have their own stories.

"Apparently, love songs are more challenging. They require sincerity and honesty, especially when it comes to oneself. I don't want people to think that my love is fake, that's why it requires deep understanding. Almost all songs, like 'Umar Bakri Punya Ini Sendiri,' have their own stories. Love has its own story, nature has its own, each religious song has its own destiny," he explained.

According to Iwan Fals, this song by Enda Ungu is quite unique because it tells a story about someone's dependence on their partner.

"Enda's song is unique in its theme because it is about dependence, a song that breaks people's hearts. Afraid of losing, what can we do if they're not there. Well, I think it's true that we are always dependent, always experiencing disappointment, not only humans but other things," he explained.

The special thing about the 'Patah' music video is that it was made like a short film, involving Reza Rahadian and Marsha Timothy as the video models. Iwan Fals also admitted to being very impressed with their acting, which made this music video extraordinary.

"Coincidentally, I saw the process and I was surprised at how quickly they got into character, without any difficulty. Once it was done, I was amazed. It exceeded my expectations. Thanks to the team who worked on it so seriously and extraordinarily," said Iwan Fals.

Having been making music for decades, Iwan Fals was once asked what he did when he was bored with music. He replied that all he could do was be grateful for what he had achieved so far.

"Of course, I have been bored before. But I am grateful because many people cannot play the guitar, I can. Many can write songs but are not recognized, but I have the opportunity to be promoted and known," said Iwan Fals.

"That is what makes me grateful for what God has given me in music. The feeling of gratitude makes the feeling of boredom disappear," he concluded.
