Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 Held on November 22-24, Featuring St. Vincent to Air

Kapanlagi.com - Good news for Indonesian music lovers, as the Joyland Festival Jakarta will take place on November 22-24, 2024. This three-day festival will present a series of excitement, from performers to other thrilling attractions.

Previously, it was revealed that the Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will be enlivened by Bombay Bicycle Club, Blueboy, MONO, Real Estate, and many more. If this lineup isn't enticing enough to come to GBK Senayan, Jakarta, Plainsong Live has also announced the latest list of performers, including two main guest stars and various other exciting attractions.

1. Main Star of the Event

This announcement opens with Annie Clark aka St. Vincent, the iconic multi-talented artist from America known for her boundary-pushing work, captivating guitar playing, and influence on contemporary pop megastars like Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo.

"Bringing St. Vincent to the Joyland Festival Jakarta is an achievement for Joyland and for me personally! We admire her beautiful works and can't wait to see her performance in a few months," said Ferry Dermawan, Program Director of the Joyland Festival.

St. Vincent's repertoire will highlight All Born Screaming, her critically acclaimed album from 2024, featuring songs like 'Big Time Nothing', 'Flea', and 'Broken Man'. She will also perform her classic older material including 'Pay Your Way in Pain', 'Digital Witness', 'Cheerleader', and 'New York'.

2. Bring the Best Works

The main star at the Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 is Air, the legendary atmospheric pop duo from France. In addition to performing songs such as 'La femme d'argent', 'Sexy Boy', and 'Kelly Watch the Stars' to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut masterpiece album Moon Safari, Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel will also perform works from their nearly three-decade career, including 'Cherry Blossom Girl' and 'Electronic Performers'.

Also included among the international performers at the Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 are the pop duo from Los Angeles, USA, Bubble Tea and Cigarettes; the indie rock band from Tokyo, Japan, DYGL; the indie rock quartet from South Korea, Silica Gel; and Surprise Chef, a jazz-funk instrumental ensemble from the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia.

3. Indonesian Musician Lineup

Meanwhile, Indonesian artists at the Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will present a special performance from Efek Rumah Kaca, who will reprise their repertoire from last year's Rimpang Concert, also organized by Plainsong Live; Majelis Lidah Berduri, who will hold a theatrical performance focusing on their upcoming album, Hujan Orang Mati; as well as Hindia and Lomba Sihir, who will join as the Magic Stage to perform songs from their combined discography. Other local performers so far include Ali, Maliq & D'Essentials, The Adams, and The S.I.G.I.T., who will return to enliven the festival, as well as BANK and Sigmun, who will make their debut at the Joyland Festival Jakarta.

In addition, the beloved indie pop sextet from Jakarta, White Shoes & The Couples Company, has been entrusted with curating the Lily Pad stage, which will showcase new and experimental artists from Indonesia – including Teenage Death Star and The Panturas – as well as from abroad. The iconic rock group from Japan, The 5.6.7.8's, South Korean veteran Park Daham, and the DJ collaboration from Japan, Masaya Fantasista and Mikey Varot, are among the names that will shake the most intimate stage at Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024.

4. Other Exciting Attractions

In addition to music performances, the Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will once again present its signature programs that contribute to a satisfying festival experience: the Shrooms Garden stage featuring comedians curated and hosted by Soleh Solihun; Joyland Village supporting local food, beverage, and product businesses; the family-friendly White Peacock area curated by Lintang Sunarta, with this year's edition showcasing facilities such as a sensory play playground, a quiet area, a children's merchandise store, and a vinyl record shop, as well as various activities including a mini orchestra and choir, aerobic karaoke, and theater performances; and the outdoor cinema Cinerillaz showcasing short films curated for this edition by renowned writer and director Joko Anwar.

5. Pre-event Series

In the lead-up to the main event, Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 will also present various pre-events to build anticipation. This includes the debut of Cinerillaz outside the Joyland venue, which will take place in early August at Cipete Creative District and feature ten short films that have been screened at Joyland and curated by Alexander Matius, a film programmer and long-time friend of Joyland. Additionally, there will be the launch of the Joyland Collection, introducing merchandise for Joyland Festival Jakarta 2024 created by special collaborators, a chess tournament, as well as a launch party for a cocktail collaboration.
