Keenan Nasution's Child Reveals the Chronology of the Copyright Lawsuit Against Vidi Aldiano, Discovers Irregularities

"In August 2025, my father and I discovered that the song 'Nuansa Bening' had been uploaded on several digital platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music by this singer. We found several irregularities. What are they?" said Daryl during a teleconference session in the Fatmawati area, South Jakarta, Tuesday (3/6/2025).

Daryl highlighted that the label that uploaded the song to the digital platform is not the label that originally collaborated with Keenan. He views this label switch as an indication of an administrative error that could have significant repercussions.

"Firstly, according to the song credit metadata, on all digital platforms, if we click on the song, it will show who uploaded it and who the creator is. When I clicked, it turned out that the uploader was not Suara Hati, but VA Records. Previously, the collaboration was done with Suara Hati," Daryl said.

Besides the label issue, Daryl also noted inconsistencies in the writing of the songwriter's name. He regrets if another name is unlawfully added to the list of creators.

"Secondly, in the songwriter section, VA Records actually listed his name as the songwriter. So it is written 'Nuansa Bening' was written by my father and VA Records," Daryl stated.

According to him, this is not just an ordinary technical error, but it could trigger potential copyright violations. Daryl believes that the inclusion of VA Records' name as the writer could impact the distribution of royalties.

"Now everything is system-based. This allows VA Records to collect royalties as the songwriter, even though it is clearly not their creation," Daryl said.

The song "Nuansa Bening" version by Vidi Aldiano is currently no longer available on Spotify. Daryl mentioned that this could be a follow-up to the irregularities that have been reported.

The song "Nuansa Bening" itself is one of the legendary works of Keenan Nasution and Budi Pekerti, which was previously reinterpreted by Vidi Aldiano in his debut album titled Pelangi di Malam Hari in 2008. This song is known as one of the singles that marked the beginning of Vidi's career in the Indonesian music industry.
