Mezzaluna Releases Song 'In Situ', Bimbim Slank Proud that His Child Can Make His Own Song

Kapanlagi.com - Bimbim Slank's first child, Mezzaluna D'Azzuri, follows in her father's footsteps in the Indonesian music industry. The 20-year-old woman has just made her debut with a single titled In Situ under the auspices of OFFMUTE, a label formed by Sony Music Entertainment.

As a father, Bimbim is certainly proud of Mezzaluna's achievement in being able to write her own songs. Although Bimbim himself admits that he has never taught his child to write songs or play music specifically. Well, it's true what they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

"I believe that DNA can influence human intelligence or lineage. Mez has never been directly taught music and songwriting by me, but since she was 6 months old, she has been touring the world with Slank," said Bimbim in a virtual press conference on Thursday (23/9/2021).

1. Debut as a Singer

The song In Situ became Mezzaluna's debut in the Indonesian music industry. With English lyrics, the song In Situ presents a blend of jazz, neo-soul, and alt-pop genres. Of course, it is very different from the music genre played by Bimbim with Slank.

"It is one of the fastest writing processes I have ever done because I am honest with my feelings. Because it is based on personal experience, I only express the content of my heart," said Mezzaluna.

2. Working on Her Own Single

"So suddenly (at the age of) 15, there was a school project that could make an album like that, it's quite proud. But it took another 5 years to have the courage to release it," added Bimbim.

Interestingly, in the song In Situ, Mezzaluna did not involve her father directly in the song production process. However, she still accepts input from her father to write the lyrics.

"Not directly, but since childhood, I always saw him (Bimbim) making music, so that's a part of his involvement. When it's finished, I let him know, and then he gives his own opinion," she said.

3. Wanting to Escape from Father's Shadow

"He (Mezzaluna) doesn't have his father's name attached. So why did he choose Sony Music, hoping to break free from his father's shadow and spread his music not only in Indonesia," Bimbim concluded.

What is very interesting about Mezz's debut as a singer is that, despite Bimbim being one of the famous musicians in the country, Mezzaluna herself is not always overshadowed by her father's figure. That is also why Mezzaluna is interested in joining OFFMUTE, a label formed by Sony Music Entertainment.
