'Unemployed' as the Secret to Producing Many Works, Iksan Skuter: Do Musicians Want to Apply to Become Party Members?

In the near future, the musician from Malang City will release an album titled Orbit. This album has actually been composed since 2020. Unfortunately, due to various reasons, Iksan had to postpone the release schedule of Orbit. In 2020, Iksan has also released two albums, Codx and Selera Nusantara.

"The making of the Orbit album was actually in 2020, but it was released in 2021. If it had gone according to plan, it would have been released in December. It got delayed, there were considerations here and there, so it was finally released in 2021," said Iksan in an exclusive interview with Srawung Media on Wednesday (13/1/2021).

1. Productivity Secrets

Looking at the number of albums he has produced in one year, Iksan can be called one of the most productive soloists. Not only that, since 2012 alone, Iksan has produced 14 albums.

This high level of productivity is attributed by Iksan to having a lot of free time. He admits that being idle is the reason he can create so many works in the past 8 years.

"Number 1, you have to be idle. But yesterday there was a job, right? For me, what should a musician do? Should a musician apply to become a party member or council member? I think a musician should make albums. That's the only thing I can do. What else do I want to do? When I realized my position, I just made them. And it turns out that I didn't even feel those 14 albums. All I knew was just making, making, making," he said.

2. Don't Want to Get Trapped

Furthermore, Iksan also revealed that he does not want to be trapped by whether his album is popular or not. He admitted that he does not think too much about whether his songs and albums will explode in the market or not. What he wants to do is just keep creating and making songs.

"Secondly, I don't want to be trapped by the number of popular albums, I don't want to be trapped by 'is it booming? Is it a hit?' I don't want to be trapped by that. Just create," he continued.
