78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, Here are 5 Contributions of BRI to the People!

Kapanlagi.com - The 78th anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, which falls on August 17, 2023, is celebrated with extraordinary enthusiasm and abundant joy. This year, the independence theme carries the theme 'Continuing to Advance for Indonesia Maju' which reflects the spirit of Indonesia to continue moving forward.

With the same spirit, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI, which is one of the largest banks in Indonesia, continues to make optimal contributions to participate in building the people's economy and driving Indonesia forward.

BRI President Director Sunarso revealed that BRI does business with the people and is processed in the people's way.

"BRI's profits are returned to the people through taxes and dividends. Because we work with the people, managed in the people's way, and profits are returned to the people through various programs for the community," explained Sunarso.

Sunarso added that amid the economic recovery conditions, BRI has succeeded in giving meaning to all stakeholders through the creation of economic value and social value by maintaining the fundamental performance of the Company to continue to grow in a healthy, strong, and sustainable manner. At least the following are 5 achievements and contributions of BRI to the country and the Indonesian people.

1. Record Dividend and Tax Deposits Reaching Rp140.5 Trillion in the Last 5 Years

BRI recorded dividend and tax deposits amounting to Rp140.5 trillion in the last five years (2018-2022). This value consists of dividends paid to the Government amounting to Rp49.4 trillion, Corporate Income Tax paid to the government amounting to Rp50.6 trillion, Deduction/Levy Income Tax and VAT & Stamp Duty paid to the Government amounting to Rp40.5 trillion.

In detail, the amount of dividends and taxes paid to the state continues to increase from year to year, amounting to Rp24.3 trillion in 2018, then increased to Rp26.6 trillion in 2019. It increased again to Rp28.4 trillion in 2020, increased to Rp27.1 trillion in 2021, and in 2022, the amount of dividends and taxes paid by BRI reached Rp34.2 trillion.

2. Formation of Ultra Micro Holding Provides Financial Access to 36 million Customers

Since its official establishment in September 2021, Ultra Micro Holding (UMi), which consists of 3 (three) company entities, namely PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk as the parent company, as well as other entities PT Pegadaian and PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), continues to integrate and develop the national ultra micro business ecosystem through providing financial services access as wide as possible for the community.

With a total of 1,013 SENYUM (Ultra Micro Service Center) co-location offices, followed by the increasing number of Ultra Micro Holding customers. Until the end of March 2023, the number of Ultra Micro Holding customers successfully integrated from the three entities has reached 36 million, or increased by 19.6% annually. Ultra Micro Holding is targeted to serve 45 million customers by 2024.

3. Increase in the Number of AgenBRILink Reaching 666 Thousand in 59 Thousand Villages

BRI continues to commit to developing and optimizing the deployment of BRILink agents throughout Indonesia, even to the farthest points. This commitment is evident from the increasing number of AgenBRILink, which even exceeds the target. As known, the number of AgenBRILink in the second quarter of 2023 has reached more than 666 thousand agents, reaching more than 59,705 villages across Indonesia.

4. Highest in the Industry, BRI's Sustainable Credit Reaches Rp710.9 Trillion

BRI has recorded a disbursement of sustainable loans worth Rp710.9 trillion in the first quarter of 2023, or a growth of 11.1% annually (YoY) above the same period in 2022.

The application of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) principles has become part of the Company's sustainability strategy. Furthermore, in terms of funding, in 2019 BRI issued a sustainability bond worth US$500 million. Next, BRI issued a green bond of Rp5 trillion in 2022. Still in 2022, BRI issued sustainability-linked loans worth US$1 billion, in line with its business focus on increasing credit distribution to MSMEs, especially micro and ultra-micro segments.

5. Super App BRImo Used by 27.8 Million Indonesian People

The trust of the Indonesian people in the BRImo super app is shown by the number of users which has now reached 27.8 million users or a growth of 50.5% year-on-year (YOY). Currently, BRI continues to strengthen its flagship features by adding new features that provide more convenience for customers in transactions. Until June 2023, or within 6 months, the number of transactions on BRImo has reached 1.3 billion transactions or a growth of 89.6% YoY, with transaction volume reaching Rp1,895 trillion (a growth of 76.2% YoY).

The contributions and achievements of BRI are inseparable from the hard work of all BRI employees or BRILiaN people in providing the best service for the Indonesian people.
