Therefore, before performing the prayer of repentance, a Muslim needs to declare the intention to carry out the prayer of repentance to Allah Ta'ala. "Ushalli sunnatal taubati raka'ataini lillahi ta'ala."

Taubat Prayer, although it is a highly recommended voluntary prayer, it has special virtues because it shows submission and sincerity in seeking forgiveness from Allah SWT.Therefore, Taubat Prayer becomes a highly recommended voluntary prayer for every Muslim.The reason is that performing Taubat Prayer is a form of sincerity in repenting to Allah SWT.

The procedure for Taubat Prayer is similar to obligatory prayers or other voluntary prayers.The main difference between Taubat Prayer and obligatory prayers or other voluntary prayers lies in the intention and purpose of its performance. Taubat Prayer is specifically performed to seek forgiveness and repent to Allah SWT for the sins that have been committed.In this case, the intention and sincerity to repent become very important.

However, there are several differences that must be noted.Such as the timing of its performance, Taubat Prayer can be performed at any time except during the prohibited times to perform prayers.But many scholars argue that it is more recommended to perform Taubat Prayer during the last third of the night, just like when performing Tahajjud Prayer.

Here are some of the recommended supplications to be recited after repentance prayer: 1. Reciting Istighfar (33x or 100x) "Astaghfirullaahal 'adziim, alladzii laa ilaaha illa huwal hayyul qayyuumu wa atuubu ilaiih." Meaning: "I seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty, the One who there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I repent to Him." 2. Reciting Taubat Prayer "Astaghfirullaahal azhiimal-ladzii laa ilaaha illaa huwal hayyul qayyumu wa atuubu ilaihi taubata 'abdin zhaalimin laa yamliku linafsihi dharran wa laa naf'an wa laa mautan wa laa hayaatan wa laa nusyuuran." Meaning: "I seek forgiveness from Allah the Almighty, the One who there is no god but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence, and I repent to Him as the repentance of a wrongdoer servant who has no power over himself for harm, benefit, life, death, or resurrection." 3. Reciting Supplication for Seeking Forgiveness "Allaahumma anta rabbii laa ilaaha illaa anta khalaqtanii wa ana'abduka wa ana'alaa 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastatha'uudzubika min syarri maa shana'tu.abuu ulaka bini'matika 'alayya wa abuu u bidzanbi fahghfirlii fa innahu laa yaghfirudz dzunuuba illaa anta." Meaning: "O Lord, You are my Lord, there is no god but You, You created me and I am Your servant, and I am on Your covenant and promise as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your blessings upon me and I acknowledge my sins, so forgive me, for no one forgives sins except You." 4. Closing Supplication of Repentance Prayer "Allahumma antas salamu wa minka salam, tabarakta ya Dzal Jalaali wal Ikhram." Meaning: "O Allah, You are the Source of peace and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Generosity." 5. Other Recommended Supplications Besides the two supplications above, it is also recommended to increase istighfar, recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas, and pray with humility according to what we feel in our hearts.
