However, the love potion that the dukun gives him ends up being used by Si Cepleu instead of Si Amoy.

Because the dukun fails, Si Lamsijan goes to his mother's uncle, a kiai (Islamic teacher) who is known for his wisdom. Si Lamsijan becomes a devout Muslim because he wants to marry Si Amoy, who is also a Muslim. However, Si Lamsijan ends up marrying Si Cepleu instead because he mistakenly thinks that Si Cepleu is the one who ate the fried banana that was meant for Si Amoy. Si Lamsijan's mother is angry at him for marrying Si Cepleu, but Si Cepleu turns out to be a hardworking wife who helps him earn a lot of money.

After marrying Si Cepleu, Si Lamsijan becomes a successful businessman in his village, even though he only had a small amount of gold as capital from Si Cepleu. He also helps his father-in-law, Babah Tan A Sien, who is the father of Si Amoy, because he had helped Si Amoy before. However, Si Amoy is taken away by Si Opsir, a foreigner who has already paid off her father's debt.

The strengths of this novel are its smooth narrative and easy-to-understand language.
