Gojek and Yayasan Anak Bangsa Can Distribute 1 Million Meal Vouchers for Online Drivers Gojek Documentation

Kapanlagi.com - In the difficult times of the Covid-19 pandemic, Gojek partners are always at the forefront to help the community remain productive even when #stayathome. However, it is undeniable that the weakening economy has also limited the jobs of Gojek drivers.

Various efforts continue to be made by Gojek and Yayasan Anak Bangsa Bisa (YABB) to maintain the income of driver partners and UMKM partners. One of the latest initiatives is to provide 1 million meal vouchers worth Rp 5,000 that can be used by drivers at 10,000 GoFood UMKM partner merchants and are available every week.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has brought us all to a very challenging situation. This has a significant impact, especially on informal sector workers who rely on daily income, such as millions of online driver partners. The decrease in transportation orders during this time certainly affects daily income. However, on the other hand, we see that many of our driver partners still receive orders for food delivery services, because many people are #stayathome," said Hans Patuwo, Chief Operations Officer of Gojek.

1. Will Be Expanded to Various Other Provinces

For now, the program is still valid only in the Jabodetabek area. However, slowly the distribution of the vouchers will begin to be spread to various cities and provinces in Indonesia.

"Starting today (7/4), Gojek together with YABB will distribute 1 million meal vouchers every week for driver partners. This is to lighten the burden of driver partners, especially for their daily meal needs. We are starting this program in Jabodetabek and will expand it to other cities. The distribution of these vouchers is the realization of one of the 12 assistance programs for Gojek driver partners during the COVID-19 period," he added.

2. Effective Date

The distribution of these free vouchers will be implemented from April 7, 2020, until May 31, 2020. In addition to easing the expenses of driver partners, this initiative is also to help sustain the income of culinary MSMEs during this COVID-19 pandemic.

"In addition to saluting the driver partners who are at the forefront during this COVID-19 period, we also appreciate the culinary MSME actors who continue to work hard to sustain their businesses in this difficult time. Their spirit of mutual cooperation is reflected in the participation of thousands of MSME partners in this program. We hope this program can help maintain their income so that their businesses can continue to thrive and at the same time help meet the meal needs of Gojek driver partners," continued Garibaldi Thohir, Chairman of Gojek and also the Supervisory Board of the Anak Bangsa Bisa Foundation.

3. Help for Healthcare Workers

In addition, Gojek and the Anak Bangsa Foundation can also provide assistance in the form of food packages to healthcare workers (nakes) who are at the forefront of caring for COVID-19 patients. This initiative started in dozens of COVID-19 referral hospitals in Jabodetabek, such as RSPI Dr. Sulianti Saroso and RS Darurat Wisma Atlet.

These food packages are provided by UMKM merchant partners at the nearest GoFood Festival and GoFood Kitchen, and then delivered using the GoBox service. This initiative is a continuation of the cooperation between Gojek, the Indonesian Ministry of Health, and the Indonesian Hospital Association (PERSI) in handling COVID-19, which started last week with the distribution of travel vouchers for nakes using GoRide and GoCar.

"The assistance in the form of food packages for healthcare workers also allows them to stay focused and motivated in their work in this challenging situation. Gojek's comprehensive and tireless efforts greatly help the government in reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission," said the Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Oscar Primadi, MPH.

4. Initiative from GoFood Merchants

Gojek also provides opportunities for customers to participate in #helpfrontliners. By making three transactions per week on GoFood, customers have contributed to the food package sharing program for driver and healthcare partner.

Interestingly, this act of kindness initiative comes directly from GoFood merchants. Many GoFood merchants provide special menus to treat online drivers that can be ordered by customers who want to do good in helping our online partners.

"I am very impressed with the spirit of mutual cooperation among Indonesian society to help each other. This is what uplifts all of us because we know we are not alone in facing this situation. The spirit of mutual cooperation and helping each other is what makes our nation strong and, God willing, we can get through this difficult time," said Garibaldi Thohir.
