Helping Others, SRO Invites Investors to Invest in Overcoming the Covid-19 Pandemic

One of them is done by the Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) consisting of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), the Indonesian Clearing and Guarantee Corporation (KPEI), and the Indonesian Central Securities Depository (KSEI) who invite capital market investors to invest while helping others to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

The activity, which took place on August 9, 2021, all SRO revenues from transactions in the Indonesian Capital Market carried out by investors on August 9, 2021, will be converted into Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for COVID-19 pandemic mitigation. This is also in commemoration of the 44th Anniversary of the Reactivation of the Indonesian Capital Market.

Other activities include the establishment of Vaccination Centers, assistance funds for COVID-19 Emergency Hospitals (RSDC), procurement of oxygen concentrators as part of the Oxygen for Indonesia Movement, plasma donation, assistance for the families of fallen healthcare workers, and assistance for funeral workers.

"In the initial stage, funds for CSR activities in commemoration of the 44th Anniversary of the Indonesian Capital Market will be allocated from exchange transaction fees and central custodian service fees for one day, which is August 9, 2021, as an initiative and form of SRO's concern to support the Government's program in reducing the impact of COVID-19 that is still ongoing," said the Chairman of the 44th Anniversary of the Indonesian Capital Market Committee and also the Director of KSEI, Syafruddin, as quoted on Wednesday (8/4/2021).

1. Invite Capital Market Players

Furthermore, SRO also invites capital market players to enliven the activities. Capital market players include Securities Companies, Custodian Banks, Securities Issuing Companies, Investment Managers, Mutual Fund Sales Agents, Payment Banks, and Customer Account Administrators (RDN) Banks, as well as others, to contribute to this CSR activity.

Donations from Indonesian Capital Market players can be in the form of cash or goods that will be distributed by SRO in the form of CSR activities.

2. Establish Vaccination Centers

The government has also encouraged the public to immediately get vaccinated. According to data from covid19.go.id, as of August 1, 2021, the number of people who have received the first dose of the vaccine is around 47 million, and 20 million for the second dose.

This number is still far from the government's target of 208 million people, which currently only reaches 23 percent. Therefore, SRO is making efforts to establish Vaccination Centers to make it easier for people to get vaccinated. The Vaccination Centers created by SRO have opened the first phase from June 21 to 26, 2021 in Jakarta, which was attended by around 4,000 people.

Next, in August 2021, the second phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination Centers will be established outside Jakarta, starting with the cities of Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, Surabaya, and Gresik.

Other CSR activities include assistance to the heirs of healthcare workers who died from COVID-19, in collaboration with the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian National Nurses Association (DPW PPNI) of DKI Jakarta.

In addition, there is support for the Oxygen Movement for Indonesia program initiated by the Ministry of Health, and assistance with equipment for the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital at Wisma Haji.
