This time, Liputan6.com successfully wins the gold winner in the Best Fact Checking Project category for the Fact-6ers Synergy program. The award was given at the 2024 Digital Media Awards Asia, organized by WAN-IFRA in Kuala Lumpur on April 24-25, 2024.
Elin Yunita Kristanti, the Editor-in-Chief of Liputan6.com, personally received the award at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara.
"The award from WAN-IFRA is a vitamin for Liputan6.com and KLY, and it shows that the media world appreciates the perseverance of journalists who strive to protect the public from the poison of lies and hatred in the realm of information," said Wenseslaus Mangut, Director of News at KLY.

According to him, preventing hoaxes is taking care of many people, taking care of collective life which is certainly the task of everyone; journalists, government, businessmen, and the general public.
"Because, besides damaging collective life, hoaxes also damage politics, disrupt the functioning of government, and also damage the reputation of a brand which, if you want to protect it, start by caring about information health," he said.
Executive Editor of Fact Check Liputan6.com, Edu Krisnadefa added, this award is a form of appreciation for the work and programs of Fact Check that have been carried out. "This will certainly motivate us to continue generating new ideas and programs," he said.
"But what is more important, of course, we hope that these Fact Check programs can be beneficial for the community," added Edu.
The first Digital Media Awards Asia was launched in 2009 to give recognition to news media organizations that are leaders and innovators in implementing digital media strategies, in line with the shift in news consumption trends from print media to online. In this 2024 competition, WAN-IFRA received 136 submissions from various media outlets in the Asia-Pacific region.
WAN-IFRA, as the World Association of News Publishers, is a global press organization. Its mission is to protect the rights of journalists and publishers worldwide to operate independent media. Its authority is derived from a global network consisting of 3,000 news publishing companies and technology entrepreneurs, and its legitimacy from 60 member publisher associations representing 18,000 publications in 120 countries.
