Owner of SPI Batu School Reported for Alleged Sexual Abuse, Violence, and Exploitation

Kapanlagi.com - The National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA) recently reported the owner of Selamat Pagi Indonesia Batu School in Malang, East Java. The perpetrator, referred to as JE, was reported for alleged sexual abuse, economic exploitation, and violence.

The report was made by the Chairman of Komnas PA, Arist Merdeka. He came accompanied by the Head of the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning Agency (DP3AP2KB) of Batu City, M.D Furqon, along with 3 victims.

"It turns out that the SPI School in Batu City has become a source of disaster for students," said Arist when met at the East Java Police Headquarters, as quoted from Jawapos.com.

1. More Than 15 Victims?

Arist received the report from one of the SPI students who claimed to be a victim. The victim experienced psychological pressure after being harassed by the perpetrator.

"Reported to KPAI a week ago, then we investigated," explained Arist.

Until now, the investigation process is still ongoing, but from there, Arist can estimate the number of victims.

"Possibly more than 15. It's possible because it has never been revealed. This victim could also be a recent occurrence. There may be other perpetrators besides JE," he added.

2. 3 Reported Crimes

From several victims who have come forward, they have experienced physical and verbal sexual violence. These incidents have been going on since 2009.

"There are three that we reported, namely repeated sexual crimes, economic exploitation by employing children. We also reported physical violence committed by the manager," explained Arist.

Arist hopes that the East Java Regional Police will immediately investigate the case. Because the perpetrator's actions can be classified as extraordinary crimes.

3. SPI Denies Allegations

Interestingly, the headmaster of SPI, Risna Amalia Ulfa, denies the report. She even claims to be surprised and feels that there is something suspicious about the news.

"We don't know who submitted the report, what their intentions were, and what motives they had for making the report. Because what was reported is completely untrue. I have been here since the school was founded in 2007," said Risna when contacted on Saturday (29/5) night.

Feeling that the school's reputation has been tarnished, they are currently investigating the case and the report. According to her, there are certain individuals who want to ruin SPI's reputation.

"Currently, we are also trying to find out more about this. It seems that someone has malicious intentions towards SPI," she concluded.
