Police Investigate Work Accident at PG Kebon Agung that Caused Victim, Attempts to Obstruct Investigation

Kapanlagi.com - Malang Police increased the status of the investigation to investigation in the case of a work accident at the Kebonagung Sugar Factory (PG) in Malang. In addition, the police also issued a police report regarding efforts to obstruct the investigation by the factory.

"We have not explored it (the reason for not reporting) but what is clear is that we also issued a police report regarding the obstruction of the investigation. We will continue to investigate to resolve this case," said Kasatreskrim Polres Malang, Iptu Wahyu Rizki Saputro at Mapolres Malang, Thursday (15/6).

MF (25) electric technician at PG Kebonagung died after falling into the milling machine on Monday (5/6). The victim was a contract worker at the factory.

1. Not Reported Initially

As a result of the incident, the victim died after receiving treatment at Wava Husada Hospital in Kepanjen. The victim was in critical condition with severe injuries to the chest and left leg. However, the incident was not reported to the police by the factory. The police also initially did not receive permission to conduct a crime scene investigation. Permission to investigate the crime scene was only granted on Thursday (6/8).

"Yesterday we conducted a case review to increase the status from investigation to prosecution. Yesterday, we also coordinated with the Provincial Manpower Office," said Rizki.

Investigators have requested statements from five witnesses who are employees of PG Kebunagung. In addition, they have scheduled further questioning of witnesses from the victim's family and co-workers.

2. Crime Scene Conditions

Regarding the crime scene conditions, Rizki emphasized that the location of the incident is no longer as it was initially. Therefore, further investigation will be conducted, especially with the suspicion of obstruction of the investigation.

"The condition of the crime scene will be answered during the investigation process regarding the obstruction of the investigation. But it is clear that during the crime scene investigation, several places where the incident occurred were no longer in the same condition as they were during the incident," he explained.

Meanwhile, the autopsy results concluded that the victim suffered bruises on the head, chest, and stomach. In addition, a broken bone was found in the right thigh, bruising in the blood vessels, and an open wound on the left leg.
