He said, "Witr prayer is like one-third of the night, so if you are afraid of not being able to wake up in the last third of the night, then it is sufficient for you to perform Witr prayer before going to sleep." As mentioned earlier, Witr prayer is performed at night between Isha and before dawn. Regarding the number of units, Witr prayer is performed with an odd number of units, usually 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 units. This is related to its name, Witir, which comes from the Arabic word meaning odd.

Apart from that, the implementation of Witr prayer is not much different from other prayers. Here is the procedure for performing 3 units of Witr prayer:

1. Recite the intention for 2 units of Witr prayer:

"Ushallii sunnatam minal witri rak'ataini lillaahhi ta'aalaa." (Meaning: I intend to perform 2 units of voluntary Witr prayer for the sake of Allah ta'ala.)

2. Recite Surah Al-Fatihah.

3. Recite a short surah, preferably Surah Al-A'la.

4. Perform Rukoo'

5. I'tidal.

6. First prostration.

7. Sitting between two prostrations.

8. Second prostration.

9. Stand again, continue standing to perform the second rak'ah.

- Reciting Surah Al-Fatihah and a short surah from the Quran, it is recommended to recite Surah Al-Kafirun.

- Then bow.

1. Shahada (Recited 3 times)

"Asyhadu an la ilaha illallah."

Meaning:

"I bear witness that there is no deity except Allah."

2. Istighfar (Recited 3 times)

"Astaghfirullah."

Meaning:

"I seek forgiveness from Allah."

3. Prayer for Pleasure and Paradise of Allah (Recited 3 times)

"Allahumma inni as'aluka ridhaka wal jannah, wa a'udzu bika min sakhathika wan nar."

Meaning:

"My Lord, I ask for Your pleasure and Paradise. I also seek refuge in You from Your wrath and the Hellfire."

4. Tasbih (Recited 3 times)

"Subhanal malikil quddus."

Meaning:

"Glorified is the King, the Holy." (HR An-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah)

6. Praise of purity.

"Subbuhun, quddusun, rabbuna wa rabbul mala'ikati war ruh."

Meaning:

"Holy and pure our God, God of the angels and Jibril." (Narrated by Al-Baihaqi and Ad-Daruqutni).

7. Praise for the Abundance of Forgiveness (Read 3 times)

"Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun karimun tuhibbul 'afwa, fa'fu 'anni."

Meaning:

"My Lord, truly You are the most forgiving and merciful. You love forgiveness, so forgive me."

8. Praise for the Generosity and Love of Allah:

"Ya karimu, bi rahmatika ya arhamar rahimina."

Meaning:

"O Most Generous One, (I ask) for the sake of Your mercy, O Most Merciful of all those who show mercy."

9. Prayer for Forgiveness and Safety

"Allahumma ini a'udzu bi ridhaka min sakhathika, wa bi mu'afatika min 'uqubatika. Wa a'udzu bika minka, la uhshi tsana'an alayka anta kama atsnayta 'ala nafsika."

"My Lord, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath, and in Your protection from Your punishment. I seek refuge in You from You, I cannot count Your praises as You praise Yourself," (Narrated by Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, An-Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah).
