In the video, DCW is seen mocking the queue of BPJS patients at the hospital while boasting about his status as an employee of PT Timah who receives priority service.
Unsurprisingly, this post immediately triggered a wave of condemnation from netizens who deemed the action highly inappropriate and degrading. Protests grew even wider after the video went viral on various social media platforms. Feeling pressured, W deleted the video and attempted to clarify on his personal account. Unfortunately, the apology issued only fueled public anger as it was considered insincere.
In response to the increasingly heated situation, PT Timah Tbk finally intervened. On February 1, 2025, the company issued an official apology statement through its Instagram account @officialtimah. In the statement, PT Timah emphasized that the actions of its employee do not reflect the values highly upheld by the company.
After the video went viral and received a lot of backlash, DWC immediately deleted the post and made a clarification video. In his clarification, he claimed that the video was his personal point of view and had nothing to do with PT Timah.
“The content on my account is purely my own POV point of view, it has nothing to do with the company I work for, because it is my personal account that has nothing to do at all with the company I work for,” he stated in a TikTok video.
However, this clarification only worsened the situation. Netizens felt that his apology was insincere because he did not directly admit his mistake. Shortly after that, W re-uploaded a second apology video, this time while crying.
In the second video, he apologized to his superior and stated that he had caused a commotion.
“I’m sorry Ma'am, my promise I couldn't keep,” he said in the video.
However, this apology also received negative responses from netizens who felt that his first post reflected an attitude that did not respect BPJS users.
After becoming the focus of public attention and sparking heated debate, PT Timah Tbk finally spoke up by issuing an official apology statement through its Instagram account @officialtimah on February 1, 2025.
In the statement, the company emphasized that the actions of one of its employees do not reflect the noble values upheld by PT Timah.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to uphold applicable labor regulations and ensure that all employees, both permanent and contract workers, receive BPJS health services without discrimination.
"Emphasizing that the content conveyed by the owner of the social media account is not related to or representative of the character and work culture of the Company. Regarding the steps to be taken, PT Timah Tbk emphasizes that it will enforce the regulations related to employment that apply in the Company," stated PT Timah in its Instagram post on Monday (3/2/2025).
