Kapanlagi.com - The 1945 Constitution provides special attention to the education sector in Indonesia by mandating a minimum allocation of 20% of the State Budget (APBN) for education.
One tangible step from this mandate is the establishment of the National Education Development Fund (DPPN), which is managed through an endowment fund mechanism by the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP). This initiative aims to ensure the sustainability of education funding in the homeland.
According to information from the official SMUP UNPAD website, LPDP is an agency under the Ministry of Finance established in 2012. With a noble mission, LPDP is committed to managing the endowment education fund with the hope of providing significant benefits, especially in the form of scholarships and research funding.

In 2010, a bold step was taken by the Government and the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia by launching the National Education Endowment Fund (DPPN), a brilliant initiative to manage an endowment fund for education for a brighter future for the nation.
In accordance with Law Number 2 of 2010 concerning the Revised State Budget 2010, part of this education fund is allocated as an endowment fund managed by a non-echelon Public Service Agency (BLU), which is directly accountable to the Minister of Finance.
Then, in 2011, the Minister of Finance reaffirmed this commitment through Regulation of the Minister of Finance (PMK) No. 252, which established the LPDP as a special institution to manage the permanent education fund, supported by officials from the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education and Culture, in order to create a brighter future for education.
LPDP was officially appointed as the manager of DPPN through the Minister of Finance Decree Number 18/KMK.05/2012 in January 2012, and since then, this institution has not only played a role in managing education funds but is also committed to providing scholarship access to talented Indonesian students.
As time goes by, LPDP has continued to grow with new mandates to manage a number of endowment funds, including the Research Endowment Fund, Cultural Endowment Fund, and Higher Education Endowment Fund.
With the issuance of Presidential Regulation Number 12 of 2019, the management of these education endowment funds is carried out under the guidance of the Board of Trustees, which consists of nine ministers, ensuring that every step taken is based on the right strategic policies.
LPDP not only manages endowment funds but also plays a crucial role in expanding scholarship access for eligible Indonesian students, both for master's and doctoral levels.
By utilizing the returns from endowment fund investments, LPDP is committed to leveling scholarship opportunities, both domestically and abroad.
In carrying out this noble mission, LPDP collaborates with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, as well as the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
This program aims to ensure that scholarship recipients not only obtain academic degrees but are also prepared to make significant contributions to the advancement of Indonesia after completing their studies.
In 2022, LPDP was officially appointed as the Government Investment Operator (OIP), opening a new chapter with broader powers in the investment world.
Now, LPDP has the freedom to invest in various financial instruments, ranging from securities to non-security assets, both domestically and internationally.
This strategic move is expected to enhance the returns from the endowment fund, thereby supporting various educational programs that are the responsibility of LPDP, for a brighter future.
The LPDP logo, resembling the bud of a champaka flower, symbolizes the flexibility of this institution in adapting to the changing times.
With shades of orange and gold, this logo not only reflects enthusiasm but also LPDP's dedication to developing superior human resources across various sectors.
LPDP is committed to elevating Indonesia's name on the international stage through strong support for education and research, making it an important pillar in creating a bright future.
LPDP plays a crucial role in managing the education endowment fund sourced from the state budget (APBN), with the noble aim of providing scholarships for Indonesian students.
In addition, this institution is also committed to supporting research funding and various other strategic education programs, in order to create a quality and highly competitive generation of successors.
