The world's largest video platform stated that 2020 is different from previous years. “(Youtube Rewind) wouldn't feel right if it still aired in this condition” they expressed through their Twitter account @Youtube.
The annual celebration of Youtube has always been anticipated by Youtube users since its first launch in 2010. Youtube Rewind always showcases trending and viral things in that year so that its viewers can reminisce. However, they currently feel that Youtube Rewind is not the right time for it.
1. Appreciation for YouTubers
Through their Twitter account, Youtube expresses their gratitude to YouTubers who have consistently been creating content during this pandemic. “We know all the good things that happened in 2020 were created because of your (YouTubers) efforts. You have managed to find ways to bring joy and make people laugh. You have made this difficult year better” Youtube expressed.

This year, many people around the world are required to self-isolate or undergo lockdown. Youtube reveals that videos with the theme of 'with me' are the most watched videos. By watching videos like 'sports with me', 'eating with me', and live streaming 'chatting with me', Youtube users don't feel alone in times like this. This is what Youtube appreciates.
2. Youtube Rewind 2018
Although Youtube Rewind is always anticipated every year, it doesn't mean that Youtube Rewind always receives positive feedback. Youtube Rewind 2018, for example, received a lot of dislikes. The video that showcased everything that happened in 2018 received 208 million views and 'successfully' obtained 18 million dislikes. This makes Youtube Rewind 2018 the video with the most dislikes on Youtube.
