The Sinetron Badai Pasti Berlalu Makes Pulau Padar Labuan Bajo Crowded with Tourists

In the 22-second video, long queues of tourists can be seen, causing congestion and stretching out. They are competing to reach the best spots for capturing the island's landscapes, inhabited by the ancient Komodo dragons.

According to Liputan6.com, the production house Sinemart adapted the novel Badai Pasti Berlalu by Marga T into a soap opera for television. In the early episodes, the soap opera explores the beauty of Labuan Bajo through a love drama between Siska (Michelle Ziudith), Dr. Leo (Stefan William), and Helmi (Hito Caesar) which is colored by the motive of family revenge.

1. Local Tourism Promotion

The original novel that was adapted into this soap opera is set in Anyer, Banten. Sinemart made a breakthrough by choosing Labuan Bajo as the shooting location to promote domestic tourism. This step has received praise from various parties. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, mentioned that there are many tourist destinations in Indonesia that can be promoted by other production houses.

"I challenge other production houses. There are plenty of tourist destinations in Indonesia. Let's promote local tourism with all the creativity we have. Promoting tourism is the responsibility of all of us as a nation to keep the local economy running," said Sandiaga Uno in a recent official statement.

2. Tourism Driver

Taufan Rahmadi, an Indonesian tourism observer, expressed his opinion regarding the actions taken by the soap opera Badai Pasti Berlalu. According to him, this is an effort to stimulate domestic tourism. Tourism should be driven by all parties, especially during this pandemic.

“Local and domestic tourists are the drivers of tourism. Therefore, promoting it through soap operas is an effort to stimulate it. The tourism managers should regulate the implementation of health protocols at tourist locations, provide briefings to tourists, and manage the capacity of the tourist sites,” said Taufan Rahmadi (Via Liputan6.com).
