Journalist Experiences Harassment on Commuter Line, Reports and Expresses Disappointment with Police Response

Kapanlagi.com - A journalism intern named Qur’aini Hamidea Suci experienced sexual harassment on the Jakarta-Bogor Commuter Line on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at around 20:15 WIB. The perpetrator, known as Hendra, is a 52-year-old laborer residing in Menteng Atas, South Jakarta.The incident began when the victim boarded the Commuter Line from Duren Kalibata Station to Jakarta Kota. However, when the train was traveling from Manggarai Station to Cikini, a KAI officer who had finished his duty informed the victim that a man had secretly taken pictures and videos of her. Upon checking, the man's phone contained a video of the victim lasting 3-7 minutes.The victim then reported the incident to the Taman Sari, Menteng, Tebet Police Station, and the South Jakarta Police Resort. Not only did she encounter bureaucratic processes, but she was also disappointed with the comments made by some police officers in response to her report. Although it is reported that all parties have now reconciled, it is said that the Internal Affairs Division (Propam) is currently investigating the police officer who made inappropriate remarks to the victim.
