The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting searches at 15 locations, including the home of Raj Kundra, husband of Shilpa Shetty, in Juhu, Mumbai, as well as several related places in Uttar Pradesh. These searches are related to the pornography case involving Kundra.
In May 2022, the ED registered a money laundering case against Raj Kundra based on a police report from Mumbai in 2021. Kundra is accused of running a pornography network and has been arrested in this case.
The investigation revealed that Kundra was the main conspirator in the case, where pornographic content was distributed through applications like HotHit Movies and Hotshots. The Hotshots app was developed by Kundra's company Armsprime Media in 2019 and later sold to Kenrin Limited, a company owned by his brother-in-law.
In February 2021, Mumbai police arrested the first person related to this case, and several searches were conducted, including at a bungalow in Madh Island, where pornographic films were made. Kundra was arrested in July 2021 after further investigation.
Currently, the ED is investigating international financial transactions related to this case. Previously, the ED was also investigating Kundra in connection with a Bitcoin fraud scheme.
In April 2023, the ED seized properties worth Rs 97.79 crore belonging to Kundra under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The seized properties included an apartment in Juhu, Mumbai, and a bungalow in Pune.
Additionally, the ED is also investigating a money laundering case related to Bitcoin involving several parties. This case involves raising large amounts of funds in the form of Bitcoin from investors with the promise of a 10 percent return per month.
Police reports state that the collected Bitcoin was supposed to be used for Bitcoin mining, but the promoters instead defrauded investors and hid the illegally obtained Bitcoin in hidden digital wallets. Stay updated only on KapanLagi.com, if not now, when?
