"Our beloved Rishi Kapoor peacefully passed away at 8:45 IST in the hospital after a 2-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said that he kept them entertained until his last moments," according to the family statement.

2. Cheerful

Whether during his treatment in New York or India, Rishi never became gloomy because of his illness. He remained enthusiastic and cheerful as before.

"He remained cheerful and determined to live fully during the 2 years of treatment in two continents. Family, friends, food, and films remained his focus. And everyone who met him during the treatment was always amazed at how he did not let the disease take away his best side," the statement continued.

3. Want to be Remembered with a Smile

The family also mentioned that Rishi wanted to be remembered with a smile. Ranbir Kapoor's father did not want his fans to remember him with tears.

"He is grateful for all the love from fans flowing from all over the world. In his death, they will all understand that he wants to be remembered with a smile and not with tears," the family wrote.

4. Asking Fans to Obey the Law

One thing that the family is currently asking is for fans to continue obeying the law and not to leave their homes to accompany the actor to his final resting place. India is currently under lockdown until May 5th and prohibits people from leaving their homes except for a few permitted sectors.

"During this personal loss, we are also aware that the world is going through a very difficult time. There are many restrictions on movement and mass gatherings. We appeal to all fans and everyone who loves him to respect the applicable laws. He also wouldn't like it if you break the law," concluded Rishi's family announcement.
