Shahid Kapoor is one of the successful Bollywood actors who made his debut on the OTT platform. In 2023, he appeared in the series Farzi on Amazon Prime Original, starring alongside Vijay Sethupathi.
In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Shahid spoke about the impact of OTT on an actor's fame. When asked whether fame becomes less important when big stars like him dive into streaming platforms, Shahid gave a relaxed response.
Shahid then asked the journalist in return, "Don't you want me to play a character in Farzi?" He explained that he had just been involved in one series, so he couldn't be compared to other actors who appear more frequently on OTT platforms.
"If I had done many shows, I might agree with your statement," Shahid said. He added that the experience provided by OTT is very different. The focus is on delivering an extraordinary experience for the audience.
"I am more interested in giving the audience a great experience. As a creator, that is my priority," he explained. Shahid emphasized that he is not just concerned about fame, but more about works that can have a positive impact on the audience.
Shahid also revealed that Farzi has added many positive things to his acting career. He feels that the series has introduced him to a new audience, as well as the films he has starred in.
He expressed that both films and series have their own places. "Both have their value and should be done in a balanced way, not excessively," said Shahid, advising actors to be wise in choosing projects.
After Farzi, Shahid appeared in the film Bloody Daddy (2023) and Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024). This year, Deva became the first film he released.
