In Javanese, tedak or tedhak means to step or tread. While siten means earth. This ceremony is held as a tribute to the earth where the child begins to learn to walk.
Some of the processes in this traditional ceremony include washing the feet, stepping the baby onto seven different colored jadah, climbing stairs, and entering a cage.
