Many assumed that Marcell converted to Islam because of his wife. He himself denied this in a YouTube video by STARPRO Indonesia.

Apparently, Marcell converted to Islam after 2 years of marriage. He emphasized that when he married Rima Melati, he was still practicing Buddhism.

"This conversion happened after marriage. I have been learning for a long time. But I really became serious about it after being married for two years. When I got married to my wife, I was still a Buddhist," he explained.

He firmly stated that his decision to convert to Islam was not because of his wife. He admitted that the process of his conversion is difficult to explain.

"There was a journey that made it clear, it's a bit difficult to tell the story. But my life was directed towards it (Islam). Finally, seriously, this is the last one," Marcell said.
