12 Years of Backstreet Dating, Here Are 8 Harmonious Portraits of Cherly Juno and Her Husband That Are Rarely Highlighted - Revealing Their Struggles to Gain Approval

Kapanlagi.com - The love journey of Cherly Juno and Arthur Chandra, who have now been married for seven years, is indeed full of twists and turns. This couple officially became husband and wife on November 17, 2017, after dating for 12 years.

Out of those years, they had to spend 11 years in secrecy or backstreet due to differences in cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Cherly revealed that one of the biggest challenges in her relationship with Arthur is the strong traditions from each family.

Cherly and Arthur finally received blessings after going through many obstacles. Cherly explained that Arthur's family, who come from the Batak tribe, initially wanted their first grandchild to marry a partner from the same Batak ethnicity.

"So it was a bit difficult, because my husband is Panggoaran, so he is the first grandchild. As much as possible, they wanted someone from the Batak tribe too. In the end, his parents saw that it seemed difficult for their child if it wasn't with me, so our story won," she said.

Now, after seven years of marriage, Cherly admits that she understands many things about her partner and his family more.

"I have spent half my life with him (Arthur). So because we were in a backstreet relationship for 12 years. We dated without living together," she said.

Cherly also shared surprise moments in their household life. She admitted to being surprised by Arthur's habits that were different from hers.

"So when we got married, it felt like we were getting to know each other again. When we got married, I was still shocked to find out that he is clean while I am messy," she said, then laughed.

She also didn't expect to find small differences that were sometimes funny but tested their tolerance. One interesting story is about Arthur's Batak family's habit of wearing sandals inside the house. This was something new for Cherly, who was used to a different culture.

"They wear sandals inside the house, and I never do that because wearing sandals inside feels dirty to me. There is something called house sandals, but these are really outdoor shoes brought inside. So there were many new things discovered in getting to know each other again after getting married," she concluded.
