15 Portraits of Chika Kinsky and Yumi Kwandy who Openly Admit Being Same-Sex Couple, Initially Afraid of Criticism - Turns Out Flooded with Support

Chika Kinsky and Yumi Kwandy became the talk of netizens. How could they not, these two women openly admitted to being in a same-sex relationship. Of course, their confession received both support and criticism from netizens in the online world.

To kapanLagi.com, both Chika and Yumi admitted that they initially felt fear after making the confession video on Yumsky's Diary YouTube channel. They were afraid of criticism and backlash from netizens after seeing the confession video they made.

"From the beginning, we, Yumsky's Diary, were surprised. At first, we just did it for fun, and the response was 85% positive. Although there are still many fake accounts because they are afraid of Indonesian people, their words can be really mean. So it's better to use fake accounts," said Chika to KapanLagi.com.

Unexpectedly, the confession video of Chika and Yumi received support from netizens. This can be seen in the comment section of Yumsky's Diary on YouTube. Although there are also negative comments, overall many netizens support them.

"But so far, if you see the comments on our YouTube, there are still many who support and even many who meet us in person. So we meet a lot of people too, for example, when I'm working, people come up to me," said Chika.

Seeing the positive response from netizens, Chika and Yumi plan to create podcasts on their YouTube channel. This idea came to Chika and Yumi's minds after releasing a video where they received a good response from netizens.

"Actually, Yumi was the first one to make a podcast on Spotify, but it seems like Spotify hasn't been too popular yet. We have a real podcast on YouTube too, you know," Chika explained.

<nil>

"But it's just a different segment, so the concept we both want is about 40 percent about LGBT. We educate about LGBT so we don't just randomly take it," Chika continued.

Yumi then added that they prefer to discuss the positive side of LGBT or same-sex couples.

<nil>

"Because so far, when people say I'm one of the LGBTQ, it's up to which one, it's always negative. So we want to try to show the positive side of LGBTQ, like I still work, I achieve, I have this and that," Yumi added.

In the YouTube podcast Yumsky's Diary, Yumi and Chika also plan to invite several guests and mainly talk about LGBT. However, Yumi and Chika will also talk to the guests about topics outside of LGBT discussion.

"Actually, there are many, but that's why we want to invite them on our podcast. So, about 60 percent is like, for example, if there's a regular podcast, like if Fuji is on the rise, we want to invite them, something like that," said Chika.

"But there aren't too many LGBT people, but we will educate about LGBT, not to attract people, no. Just like this, LGBT is not that bad, not very negative. We focus on the positive side," Chika continued.

Yumi also said that they want to tell an LGBTQ story not just from an entertainment perspective.

<nil>

"So basically, it's about the positive side of each LGBTQ person, not just about being rich or famous. What matters is that they are positive individuals, they bring positivity. That's the story we want to highlight," Yumi added.

"Because not all positive LGBTQ people enter the entertainment industry. Now we want our platform to share more about successful people, including LGBTQ individuals. Now LGBTQ has a platform," Yumi concluded.
