5 Hong Kong OFWs Sue Ustaz Yusuf Mansur Regarding Land Investment

Kapanlagi.com - Five Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) in Hong Kong sued Ustaz Yusuf Mansur in the Tangerang District Court regarding land savings investments. The five lawsuits are divided into two files.

The initial hearing has been held at the Tangerang District Court, Banten, on Tuesday (5/1/2021).    

"There are two cases. There are five victims who have given power of attorney to us. Today, the initial hearing for two victims regarding land savings investments," said Asfa Davy Bya, the legal representative of the plaintiffs after the trial.

1. Offered in Hong Kong

Asfa said that his client received an offer to invest in land funds when Yusuf Mansur was in Hong Kong. At that time, the ustaz, who is familiarly called UYM, gave a lecture to Indonesian congregants who work in Hong Kong.

"At that time in 2014, UYM gave a lecture in Hong Kong, offering land fund investments. Five people were interested, two of whom had a hearing today, and the other three will have a hearing next Tuesday," said Asfa.

2. Alleged Violations

Asfa said that these two clients are suing Yusuf Mansur for alleged violations of the law. He believes that the leader of the Daarul Quran Islamic Boarding School has committed legal violations in managing land fund investments.

"Because there are actions carried out by UYM, collecting funds from the public and pooling them into cooperatives, which in our lawsuit is against the Banking Law. Because if you want to collect funds from the public, you need permission, and this was not obtained," he said.

3. Tagih Janji

In addition, in the lawsuit file, Sri Sukarsi and Marsiti also demand the promised profits from the invested capital since 2014.

"What we sue for is the profit share, the administrative fee. We also want to know what the investment money from 2014 was used for? What is this land fund? That's what we want to know," they said.

4. Mediation

Meanwhile, Ustaz Yusuf Mansur's legal counsel, Ariel Moctar, said that today's court agenda is still in the mediation stage. They are not able to explain in detail the substance of the lawsuit that will be processed in court.

"It's still early, I will provide information when the time comes, it's better to wait for the process to unfold," he said.

5. Not Evading

What is certain, according to Ariel, is that Ustaz Yusuf Mansur will be very cooperative in undergoing the legal process.

"UYM remains the same as before, regarding legal issues, he is very cooperative and abides by the law," he emphasized.
