The wedding held in 2014 certainly attracted public attention. Mark even mentioned that Shireen went berserk when she found out that her father would marry Santi.

It is understandable that Shireen and Zaskia were very surprised by Mark's decision at that time. It is said that Santi at that time worked as an assistant and also secretary for Mark.

Mark himself faced rejection from his children, especially Shireen and the late Jamilah Sungkar. Mark convinced his children that Santi is the right person for him.

"Three of them protested. Oh, Zaskia didn't, she wanted to make the wedding dress. Especially Jamilah who kept protesting and also Shireen. They said, 'Isn't there someone older?' They were afraid it would fall apart halfway. (They gave in) So I convinced them, 'What I'm doing, I'm praying for only one thing, Oh Allah, give me one pious wife who can bring happiness to us in this world and the hereafter,'" he concluded.
